NEW FUDGE SHOP ALMOST COMPLETE

Bright smiles and warm hearts will welcome guests at Grandfather Mountain’s new fudge shop in time for the July 4th holiday. Located along the path between the museum and the animal habitats, the expanded structure is eco-friendly and includes a seating area on the deck.

Madison & Anita Wilson“We are very excited about the new facility,” said Head Fudge Maker Anita Wilson. “We want the fudge shop to be the best place on the mountain for our visitors to come sit and relax, a place that feels friendly and welcoming. I have a great crew, and I am eager to see how they interact with the customers.

“The new shop gives us more room to produce the fudge, as well as space for customers to watch the fudge being made, displayed and cut to order,” said Wilson.

Even though the fudge is “cut to order,” they will still run the special where you buy one pound of fudge and get one half pound for free.

“That sounds like a lot of fudge for one person,” she said, “but guests like to take the fudge to the folks back home.”

With the new building at Grandfather Mountain also come new additions to the menu, including soft serve ice cream, pizza and sandwiches.

“The deck is going to be one of the best parts of the building and we expect it to be a packed house,” said Wilson. “It is a beautiful place and a great setting to enjoy an afternoon snack while overlooking the butterfly garden.”
